The Potential Causes for a Rash Under Your Breast
There are different reasons that you would get a rash under your breast, and there are some simple treatments. This rash can be caused by hot and humid weather because it makes you sweat continuously. There are other causes for a rash under your breast, and it is usually wise to check with your doctor before trying to treat it yourself.
The most common reason for the rash under the breast is hot, summer weather. Sweating all day while working out in the yard or lying out in the sun frequently and sweating in a swimsuit are all contributing factors to this. Depending on what material you are wearing your breast and the surrounding area all covered up and don’t get a lot of air, so it makes sense that you would probably tend to sweat more in that area.
Women who are larger busted tend to suffer from this type of rash more often. Bras for bigger busted women and swimsuits alike are made with material that is thicker and heavier which all affect the amount of air that can get into the clothing. Over time if the rash doesn’t come under control, then it can be treated with an antifungal cream, but for many women this only gives mild results. The creams are available and they do provide relief but sweating occurs on a regular basis so it doesn’t stop the root of the problem.
When the skin becomes dry and looks like a scab, it’s referred to as Dermatitis, but some women also suffer from a rash that is related to Candida. Candida is a form of yeast infection that can occur in a moist, warm environment. Treating a yeast infection is very difficult and need something strong that can kill it quickly before it spreads.
You may also experience a rash under your breast that is related to “shingles” or what is also called Zoster. Zoster is the old technical name for it, but “shingles” is how many people refer to it today. The rash may start out itching like crazy, but eventually turns very painful by itching and burning at the same time. Zoster is also considered a form of herpes and many doctors are not sure as to why it surfaces on the side of the breast. Some women do experience a breast infection like mastitis that can cause a portion of the breast to swell and look inflamed, but this infection has never been linked to herpes or any other disease.
One other thing to be cautious of if you get a rash under your breast is Inflammatory Breast Cancer. This is unique type of breast cancer that is not found in the breast but is actually a form of breast cancer found in the dermal layer of the skin. Because this cancer grows in the dermal layer, it doesn’t form a lump or tumor. The Inflammatory Breast Cancer will grow in sheets or rows, and therefore can cause swelling in the lymph nodes. Once the lymph nodes swell, the breast may appear inflamed and turn a reddish color or a brownish red color. Most women mistake this as just a rash and begin to just treat it by putting an antifungal cream on it, not having any clue as to what this is.
The most common symptom of Inflammatory Breast Cancer is the unusual growth of the breast. When the breast itches often, or if the breasts remain sore on a regular basis this may be a symptom as well. Dimpling of the breast or a constant retraction of the nipple may also be a sign. If these are your symptoms, you may not have a rash under your breast. You may have Inflammatory Breast Cancer so it’s best to have a doctor check it out right away.
